Invitation Etiquette

There is no doubt that you will need to spend some time to organise your wedding cards. In fact, you should never overlook the importance of wedding invitation etiquette. You will need to do some research on it.

Wedding invitations

There are a lot of aspects you have to consider when it comes to your wedding cards. Without any surprise, brides and grooms will spend a lot of time on the design and style of the cards. The design is certainly an extremely important issue. Yet, couples may not understand the etiquette of wedding invitations.

Wording As a matter of fact, there are quite a number of issues you must consider when it comes to the notion of wedding card etiquette. The most essential part you will be a bit confused is certainly the wordings. There are virtually plenty of styles you can consider. There is in fact no fixed rule about the wordings. Depending on who will invite, the wordings will be different.

Of course the above is only an example. There are also a lot of situations which will make the wordings different. Be sure that you will not make any mistake to this end.

Addressing You should also pay special attentions to when you are addressing the invitation cards. This is certainly wedding invitations etiquette that most brides and grooms do not really understand. There are a lot of aspects you have to think about when you are addressing the cards. For example, it is essential for you to include a really formal salutation when you are addressing the envelopes. However, a lot of couples will just miss this point.

Sending the invitations You may also be a bit worried about when you should send the invitations. Again, there is no fixed rule about that. It will mainly depend on the guests you are going to invite. If a lot of your guests need to come from other countries to your wedding, you may need to send them very early. Usually, the cards will be sent 12 weeks before the event.

Spell check This is not really etiquette of wedding invitations. It is always important to make sure that you will not make any spelling mistakes. You will need to pay attention to the spelling mistakes before you print the invitations. This is the baseline. Besides, you must make sure that you will not spell the names of your guests wrongly when you are addressing the cards.

Other invitation stuff:

If someone hasn't responded to your invitation, 1 week past the "Reply by" date, call him or her and confirm over the phone.

Children over the age of 18 get their own invitations.

Your celebrant and their better half get an invitation.

Send your parents and wedding party invitations, as a keepsake. They don't have to reply.

If you don't want children at your wedding, you have 2 options:

When addressing your invitations, leave the children's names off it and also don't mention them in the invitation.

Have friends and family pass the word around that you don't want children there.

Note:: How many people know or understand etiquette. In some cases you have to cut straight to the chase and say what you mean. We suggest adding one of these phrases to the bottom of your reply card:
